Inasmuch is Driving Change with Operation Mobilization

Meet Iyauna. Iyauna is a single mother of two young children. She is originally from Memphis but recently found safe haven in Knox County. She has made Knoxville her home and has become connected with area resources that have helped her have a safe, sustainable life for her and her two children. Except for transportation, Iyauna has relied on Uber, friends, and family to get her to and from medical appointments, the grocery store, and simple everyday errands. She is unable to work due to a disability, so she receives a small disability check each month. Her limited income makes it impossible for her to afford reliable transportation on her own.

Did you know that there are 10,000 households in Knox County, TN without transportation according to Justice Knox? There are many more who have unreliable or unsafe transportation. Reliable transportation in Knox County has become a serious problem and needs a practical, effective, and compassionate solution now!

Enter Operation Mobilization. Operation Inasmuch launched this initiative to put a large dent in the transportation crisis in our area. Inasmuch is known to mobilize believers in compassion ministry within their own communities. And now we are mobilizing our neighbors in need with safe and reliable transportation.

Operation Mobilization helps the residents of Knox County, TN in three ways:

  1. We offer free and low-cost vehicle repairs for the under-resourced.
  2. We accept vehicle donations to provide, at no cost, to qualified candidates.
  3. We walk alongside individuals who have the funds to purchase a vehicle but lack the knowledge to secure a reliable vehicle.

Thanks to a grant from Trinity Health Foundation of East Tennessee and the many volunteers who have stepped up to help us launch this initiative, we were able to donate a 1998 Honda Accord to Iyauna last week! In addition to the car, supporters of Operation Mobilization provided her with a new car seat for her infant child, a new Bible for her, a new Bible for her seven-year-old, and a full tank of gas. This vehicle will be life-changing for her and her family.

Because the need is so great, we need your help! You can help us by donating vehicles, donating money to be used to repair vehicles, donating your time and expertise, and simply sharing the word. Learn more about Operation Mobilization at mobilizingknoxville.org.
